To be, or not to be, that is the question!
Our last production still featured Gavin (Brett Dalton) in this exact outfit, trying to make his way through a day of community service. From a public bathroom to the stage (where likely he thinks he belongs), Gavin somehow found time to audition for the church’s play. We already know he’s auditioning for the lead and that Kelly (Anjelah Johnson), who happens to be the Pastor’s daughter, will be his director. We also know that she hasn’t been very amused with Gavin’s antics throughout the film, so it’ll be fun to see how she feels about his dramatic audition.
But it looks like the monologue from Shakespeare’s Hamlet that Gavin is acting out in this newest photo will win him the part. Hamlet is an interesting choice for the washed up actor. It’s a popular choice, but it’s not the easiest. Given what we know about Gavin so far, it’s no wonder that he chose this particular piece to “show off” his skills in a last ditch effort to get out of cleaning bathrooms.
Director Dallas Jenkins gave fans a fun fact on Twitter, tweeting that Brett already knew the monologue by heart prior to auditioning for the film:
Do Gavin and Brett have something in common after all? It seems they both share a deep rooted love for Shakespeare. That’s pretty cool, right? One thing we can definitely say about Brett Dalton starring in this incredible film is that it was meant to be.
We can’t wait to see what other similarities he might share with his character when the film comes out.
The Resurrection of Gavin Stone will be released in 2016.
