After wrapping up with Shawn Michaels in the previous production blog, this new clip from Vertical Church Films welcomes another actor to the set. This very well known fan favorite is set to play a pivotal role within the film and the team has found someone with the needed gravitas to deliver a worthy performance.
In this behind the scenes clip, we’re introduced to a new character, Waylon Stone, played by Neil Flynn (The Middle and Scrubs). Flynn will be playing Gavin’s (Brett Dalton) estranged father within the film. Their relationship is very strained because, as director Dallas Jenkins explains, at the time the film takes place, father and son haven’t seen each other in a really long time:
“Gavin hasn’t seen his dad in many years. As a child actor, when he got a little older he did an emancipation, kind of disowned his father. And now they have to reconnect after all these years, with all that awkwardness because he needs a place to stay while he’s in town.”
This clip offers us a glimpse at Gavin’s childhood home (including his bedroom that seems to be stuck in a time warp). The behind the scenes look also teases some really emotionally charged scenes between the actors in their roles as father and son.
It’s going to be interesting to see their dynamic on screen. At the start of the film, Gavin and his father might not be having the easiest adjustment, considering that it’s been so long since they’ve seen each other. But we’re looking forward to watching these two go on a tremendous journey that will hopefully end with them finding each other again.
Do you think Gavin will be able to reconnect with his father? You’ll have to wait and see!
The Resurrection of Gavin Stone is slated for release in 2016.
